Live Training Opportunities

You don’t want to waste time or money on another dry, prerecorded class. We learn much more when actively engaged in the give-and-take of personal interaction between student and teacher.

Imagine having private, one-on-one training via Zoom at YOUR convenience. No worries about missing a session due to a conflict, or passing up clients to get the skills you need to serve them. I can work around your schedule and your learning needs and desires. During our class time, we can take the topic in any direction you choose and focus on the areas that you want to learn most. Imagine having all of your questions answered as they arise, and the ability to get information that best aligns with your doula practice and style. Learn in conversation not lecture.

Choose a topic from the list below or let me know what you want to learn about. I have spent many years teaching adults, and I promise so much more than the hundreds of monotone presenters reading from a script you find in most online classes.

How Companioning Theory Can Erase the Anxiety of Providing Loss Support.

Details

When I ask doulas, midwives, and nurses what they struggle with the most about working with loss, the universal response is “I don’t know what to say”. I’ll admit I struggled with this at first myself.

I have the amount and depth of experience that you can only get managing loss support for a busy labor and delivery unit. I have had countless hard conversations and awkward silences. I know that a firm grasp of companioning theory is the best way to increase your confidence and effectiveness.

During the class, I will introduce you to Companioning Theory; an approach to loss support that releases the fear of “not doing it right”. It is heart-centered care that recognizes the permanent life and identity-altering effects of loss.

We will spend two hours interacting together,. courses.

Labor Support for Expected Loss

A baby who has died before birth, or is not expected to survive, changes the entire landscape of labor.

I have attended many many mothers laboring with an expected loss. These labors are distinctly different in so many aspects, as are the ways we can best support them.

In this workshop we will learn what we can expect to be the same and what will likely be different in this type of labor. Then we will collectively problem-solve to come up with creative ideas for enhancing the labor experience for these families.

This will be a two-hour interactive workshop with group processing and brainstorming. The more you engage in the process the more you will get out of it. The workshop will be recorded and registrants will have the opportunity to watch the recording if they are unable to attend. If fewer than five registrants, the workshop may be canceled and fees refunded.
