Grieving perinatal loss in an unsupportive society
In this session, we will examine the ways perinatal loss is perceived in our society and look at methods of grieving best suited to this experience. I will help you embrace your right to feel the way you do and show you how to set boundaries around that.
Surviving the first six weeks without your baby
In this session we will talk about how you will cope (or are coping) on a minute-by-minute basis in the depths of grief. We will be setting small goals, getting some tips, and refocusing your plan for the future.
Planning for a birth when your baby is not expected to live
In this session, we will talk about what to expect at your birth based on your diagnosis. I will tell you some options for how others have experienced their births of loss, and we will create a birth plan that reflects your goals and desires for your baby’s birth and your time with them.
Beyond diary journaling.
You know journaling has been proven to aid in grief, but you are either bored or intimidated by the idea of simply writing down your thoughts diary style. I will give you some creative ideas for sparking deeper work, and even fun. We will do some journaling activities together during the session. Please bring a journal or paper and a pen.
Loss Lessons for Friends and Family
You want to be the best support you can to your loved one who is experiencing pregnancy or infant loss. I will show you how loss is perceived in our society and the current best practice in emotional grief support. We will come up with some concrete ways that you can be a great support and resource to the grieving parents in your life.
Tarot as a grieving tool for pregnancy or infant loss
We will learn the basics of tarot and how it can help examine your feelings and process your grief. I will lead you in some basic card-pulling activities and interpretation. You will not need a tarot deck for this session, but it is more enjoyable if you can feel and choose your cards. If you want help selecting a deck please ask when registering.
Emotionally preparing for birth after previous loss or trauma
We will examine the ways your loss history might impact your current expected birth. We will come up with some ideas to add to your birth plan to help you meet the needs your history may bring to your birth. My goal is for you to feel confident and joyful in meeting your new baby without triggering past trauma or feeling disloyal to your previous baby’s memory.
Preparing to bring home your rainbow baby
We will look at ways previous loss can impact bonding and parenting for years to come. I will help you recognize your perceptions that may be impacted by your experience. Together we will look at workarounds, tips, or acceptance strategies that will ease some of the stress or parenting after loss.
